Download pAssistant

What is it?

pAssistant is a personal time management tool for WindowsTM which allows you to set up one-time or recurring alarms for important events. pAssistant sits on your desktop but always remains in the background. pAssistant, unlike many other tools, can handle unlimited amount of events. According to Download.com, pAssistant has been downloaded over 3,700 times from February until October of 2006.

What makes it different?

pAssistant’s chameleonic engine uses the color of your desktop background for its color scheme, allowing unlimited personalization options. Its unique snoozing feature uses a paragraph of typed text to snooze, something hard sleepers will soon appreciate. Simply check “Use paragraph to snooze” when setting up an alarm. You’ll notice the difference. :)

How much does it cost?

With a promise to spread the word around, pAssistant is provided entirely free of charge.

Installation

First, download pAssistant to a directory of your choice. Unzip the file and run “Setup.exe”. pAssistant is free from all kinds of “bad-wares” (i.e. ad-ware, spy-ware, etc.). If you have a firewall installed on your system, please allow pAssistant to run on startup. Your reminders will have no effect otherwise. You can uninstall pAssistant at any time using “Add or Remove Programs” utility in the Control Panel.

Tips

Don’t like the color scheme of the clock? Right click on your desktop and choose properties. In properties window click on the Desktop tab. Change the color to your desired color. This change will not affect the background image on your desktop, just the background color underneath it.

To add events: Right click on the pAssistant icon in your system tray (very bottom right of your screen). Options for adding, editing, deleting events will appear along with options for viewing schedule, unhiding the clock and exiting. Note that exiting the clock will disable your alarms.

To customize the text which wakes you up: Open the pAssistant's folder (default location is "C:\Program Files\CIDAMON\Personal Assistant v1\"). Open extra.txt file with a text editor and replace the lines with words of your choice. Most likely, you'll want to keep a paragraph fairly short.

What’s next?

Currently, a new version of pAssistant is under development. It will feature a completely revised interface, and it will allow you to send textMessage reminder to your cell phone.

Enjoy!
